heypster GIF Format

We use our 840x480 format for our GIFs—it’s our distinctive visual signature. Slightly different from the FWVGA format, it maintains a 16:9 ratio, making it ideal for easy integration into messaging apps: wide enough for readable text without obscuring adjacent messages.

This choice of 840x480 is also a nod to George Orwell’s 1984: written in 1948, the author reversed the digits 48 to 84 to imagine a futuristic year. In the same way, we adopted 840x480 by reversing 84 to 48.

For an optimal experience, we also offer our GIFs in MP4 H.265 and WebM VP9 (840x480), reducing their size by up to 90%. We provide a mini GIF version (420x240) as well, to meet different needs.

All GIF, MP4, and WebM files available on heypster are created in-house with meticulous care and close attention to quality.
